Zamboanga City – Six children and 12 other persons were injured after a bomb exploded in a restaurant Wednesday afternoon, April 3 in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.
An improvised explosive device (IED) had exploded at Carlito’s Place Restaurant at Barangay Calawag in Isulan town, Major Arvin Encinas, Army’s 6th Infantry Division spokesperson, said.
As of 5:19 p.m., the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (MDRRMC) of Isulan had recorded at least 18 persons injured due to the bombing.
Among the injured were sic children, and a pregnant woman identified as Norhani Mamasalagat, 26.
The military, according to Encinas, had implemented a lockdown after the bombing as IED experts inspected the site of the bombing incident.
Encinas said they have not yet identified the group responsible for the bombing incident.
They do not discount, however, the possibility that the bombing was perpetrated by Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF). (jm)
