IPIL, Philippines – Two former communist rebels and 10 supporters have received an assistance package worth P335,000 from the government through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-Clip) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
DILG provincial director Oliver Ombos said each of the two former New People’s Army (NPA) members had received P15,000 immediate assistance, and P50,000 livelihood assistance.
While each of the 10 former supporters or the Militia ng Bayan (MB) had received P15,000 financial assistance.
The assistance, the provincial director said, was aimed at helping “the rebel returnees with the necessary assistance to start their life in reintegrating to the mainstream society.”
E-Clip is the government’s program designed to respond to the circumstances, needs, and concerns of former rebels through the provision of assistance and seeks to consider their basic rights and situations as men and women.
The cash assistance distribution was conducted in coordination with the Office of the Provincial Governor, Army’s 44th Infantry Battalion, and the DILG Zamboanga Sibugay office. (jm)
