5.9 earthquake hits Bohol, PHIVOLCS warns of aftershocks

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) had warned of aftershocks following the magnitude 5.9 earthquake which had struck Bohol province early dawn Tuesday, July 2.

The earthquake, which was tectonic in origin, happened at 12:59 a.m, the PHIVOLCS bulletin said.

Its epicenter was traced to 41 kilometers southeast of Lila, Bohol with a depth of 551 kilometers.

Intensity 1 was felt in Borongan City in Eastern Samar.

There was no report of damages from the quake. (amm)
