Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay – A militant was killed while two soldiers were wounded in a firefight amid the military offensive against the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in Patikul, Sulu, the military report said.
The firefight broke out April 11 at around10:37 a.m. at Sitio Bud Taming in Panglayahan village in Patikul.

information officer, said the troops of the Army’s 32nd Infantry Battalion
under Lieutenant Colonel Ronaldo Mateo were on combat operation when they
chanced upon some 100 bandits under Abu Sayyaf leader Radullan Sahiron.
The firefight, which lasted for about 40 minutes, resulted in the death of an Abu Sayyaf bandit and two soldiers injured.
The Sahiron-led Abu Sayyaf bandits withdrew towards southwest direction from the site of the clash. Government troops are on the heels of fleeing militants.
The Joint Task Force Sulu continue its offensive against the Abu Sayyaf militants. The group is still holding captives more than five people, including foreigners. (jm)
